Join cyclists worldwide in a silent, slow-paced processional (8 mph) in honor of those who have been injured or killed while cycling on public roadways.
The RoS will be approximately 10 miles, have a police escort, and the Columbus ride will typically have about 300 riders.
A brief presentation will begin at approximately 6:30pm. At 7pm, the Ride of Silence will begin. Following the ride, we welcome you to stay and visit with one another.
To WBC Members.. Join us on this important ride
There is no Wednesday Night Ride tonight since the club will be participating in the Ride of Silence. The Ride of Silence will begin in North America and roll around the globe in hundreds of cities worldwide at 7PM in each time zone on this evening. It’s a silent procession to honor cyclists who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roadways. Although cyclists have a legal right to share the road with motorists, the motoring public often isn't aware of these rights, and sometimes not aware of the cyclists themselves. While being respectful, we want to show the public a solidarity among cyclists, and that we ride all forms of bikes and come from all walks of life.
I’ll be riding downtown to the Ride of Silence on the Olentangy Bike Path starting in Worthington off Wilson Bridge Rd. There will be a brief stop to pick up other riders as we pass through Whetstone Park of Roses. Please join me either in Worthington or the Park of Roses for the ride downtown and back, but if you’re not able to do that, be at the Columbus City Hall before 7PM to participate in the RoS this evening. Let’s all show our support. Front and rear lights will be required if you ride from Whetstone or Worthington since the return trip on the Bike Path will be tree covered and dark. If you ride from Worthington, the total round trip will be 38 miles.
Leaving Wilson Bridge Rd. at 5:00pm
Leaving Whetstone Park of Roses at 5:35pm
Arrive at Columbus City Hall 6:15pm
Ride of Silence (10 miles with police escort) 7:00pm
Back in Worthington by 9:30pm
